Adoptive
families refer to the first stage of the adoption process as the
"paperchase." During the paperchase, a long list of
documents must be notarized, state certified, and finally authenticated
by the Guatemalan Consulate that serves the particular state in which the
document originated.
The Guatemalan Consulate in Houston authenticates documents originating in the
following states: Arkansas, Louisiana, For a list of where to get your documents state certified, please click on this link which will take you to our friend Laura Morrison: The Assistant Stork. Laura maintains current information about the different state certification and vital records offices on her website. Upcoming Holidays MyChinaDocs and the Houston Consulate will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on November 26-28. _______________________________________________

Please Note: We recommend using FedEx for shipping visa applications and dossier documents. FedEx has proven services that are very reliable and - almost always - deliver your documents on schedule. For FedEx, we recommend their Standard Overnight service for delivery to us by 3 PM the next day. If you prefer UPS, we recommend their Next Day Air Saver for delivery to us by 5 PM the next day. On Monday, November 10, 2008, DHL announced a major restructuring for its operations in the United States. DHL will end their domestic shipping operations in the U.S.A. in January, 2009. Since the restructuring involves significant layoffs, we think it is reasonable to expect that DHL staff morale and performance will be affected during the time before operations actually end. As a result, we are recommending that our clients use another shipping company. Important: Never use any form of regular mail or USPS "Priority" Mail to ship dossier documents. These services are NOT tracked. If the postal service does not deliver your documents, there is no way to trace the package. |
