With Hannah in October, 1999

Lushan, Jiangxi Province, China

Hi, we are Cindy, Steve, Hannah, and Leah.

We adopted Hannah from Jiangxi Province, China in 1999.   Hannah was just thirteen months old.  The photograph above was taken 3 days later in Lushan, China - a beautiful resort in the mountains North of Nanchang.  This was the day that, after two days of tears for her foster mom, Hannah decided we were acceptable parents and we bonded together as a family.

We adopted Leah from Guangdong Province, China in 2002.  Leah was fifteen months old.  Unlike Hannah, Leah didn't cry much at all.  She was very happy to receive so much attention.

It's impossible to say in a few words, what a joy it is to have Hannah and Leah as our daughters.  We marvel constantly at how perfectly matched they are to us.  We are so grateful and thankful to the Center for China Adoptive Affairs (CCAA) in Beijing and to the civil affairs ministry officials in Jiangxi and Guangdong Provinces for allowing us to adopt these precious little girls.
Hannah has grown a lot and is now in elementary school.  After we brought Hannah home, we decided that it would be best for me to not return to my work as a Senior Technical Editor.  Now, I'm a full-time Mom and I love every minute of it.  It is far more challenging - and infinitely more special - than anything I have ever done before.

With encouragement from our agency, Great Wall China Adoptions, and several friends in the adoption community I decided to start this Courier Service to the Houston Chinese Consulate in January, 2001.  Having hand-carried our paperwork through the Consulate for both of our dossiers, I had the pleasure of meeting their very fine staff and learning the procedures that they follow.  I will be happy to help other adoptive families in any way possible.  See our China page for more information.

In October, 2001 we started service to the Houston Guatemalan Consulate.  As a result, we are able to help anyone pursuing adoption of a child from that country.  See our Guatemala page for details.

As Steve and I develop this website, we will post some more photographs of our daughters and I will also add information that we learned from our adoption journeys.

So . . . please check back often.

                                                        Cindy
